Vegetable Garden update

It's the 3rd week of June and the garden is looking good.
Just planted some bush beans for drying - black, calypso, kidney, cranberry varieties
Some corn sprouts coming up in the two pots
 Butternut squash is starting well

 Watermelon vines
The hops have topped out the trellises and are starting to flower and form cones

The two paprika pepper plants didn't make it early so we replaced with jalapenos from the garden center.
Some baby peppers

We started the onions a little late, not sure how big they'll be when we harvest them.
The bed of garlic that was planted last fall looks fantastic.
They all have scapes or have bloomed, so they'll start dying and be ready for harvesting in a few weeks.

The tomatillos and ground cherries that we started from seed really took off once they were in the ground.

Tomatoes are nice and bushy, and all have fruit

We did potatoes in the pots again, hopefully they do better than last year
Sweet potato vines in half of the pots

Come on Spring!

So, it's the end of March, although the weather outside isn't cooperating very much.
I'm starting to get shipments of seeds and bulbs in from all the orders I placed last month.

Veggie Garden Update

Harvest is in full swing, tons of tomatoes, over thirty pounds so far, and the peppers plants are loading up. The Italian rose beans are drying on the plant and should be ready to pick this weekend. Soy beans should be ready soon. Peas and green beans are finished, we left a few on the plants to dry to collect as seeds for next year. The cucumber plants unfortunately died, and we are battling cucumber beatles and squash bugs on the squash and zucchini plants. Our watermelon, pumpkins, and gourds are doing well.

Vegetable Garden Update

Lots done, planted, and grown since the last post about the vegetable garden.  We have half of the fence up:
While we were on vacation for a week, unfortunately our Romaine bloomed and is now bitter.  Oh well, I guess the chickens will get a salad dinner.  The onions and garlic are about ready for harvest as the greens are starting to yellow.
 Tomato plants are growing fast
 We have some baby tomatoes

 Pepper Plants
 The Scarlet Runner beans

Looks like we were wrong about these Italian Rose Beans.  They are bush growing, not pole.  Oh well.
Cucumber plants have already produced two
Soy and Green beans were the last to be planted, but popped right up
The Sugar Snap peas have gone crazy - already producing pods

Sweet Potato vines, and Squash and Zuchini plants
 Carrots
Herb Garden - the perrenial herbs have been transplanted from their previous location in another bed.
Grape vine for the future arbor
 Currant and Elderberry bushes
